With about 120 participants in Malta, and even more following the event via live webstreaming, the CA EPBD workshop with panel discussion "Smart Buildings for a greener Europe: Emerging Policy and Practice", organised on 14 February 2017, is considered to be a great success! The event panel included experts from industry, academia and the European Commission to discuss "What are smart buildings?" and "How can they help improve the energy efficiency of Europe's building stock?", as well as to answer a variety of questions raised by participants on site or via twitter/email. The second CAIV Plenary Meeting of the Concerted Action EPBD IV was held in Vilnius on the 31st of May and 1st of June 2016. The plenary hosted 14 sessions and 2 double sessions (workshops) on key topics for the implementation of the EPBD in the 29 partner countries. More than 125 participants attended the meeting including CA EPBD partners, EASME and the Commission, these participants evaluated the event as successful. The Lithuanian Minister of the Environment, Mr. Kęstutis Trečiokas, opened the meeting.  The warm hospitality of the Lithuanian team was duly appreciated during the duration of the meeting, and helped to stimulate the energetic discussions in all sessions....

A public side event on Renovation Strategies was held on the 30th of May, from 14:00 – 17:30 at the Radisson Hotel in Vilnius, CAIV EPBD participants and stakeholders were invited to take part in the discussions and presentations. The event was set up in connection to the EED, Article 4, looking into how to move Article 4 towards making concrete actions in MSs. The side event set out to increase collaboration between the two directives (CA EPBD and CA EED). The event moderator, Jens Laustsen, the CA IV Coordinator, kicked off the Stakeholders’ Meeting by welcoming the guests and providing an overview of the topics of the event. Luca Castellazzi, JRC European Commission, gave a presentation on a report recently published by the JRC, titled “Assessment of the first long term renovation strategies of national building stocks: Best practice and recommendations.” After a fruitful discussion, the second part of the event invited MS to present some best practice renovation strategies....

On 2 February, the BUILD UP portal for energy efficient buildings held an online web-streamed event to mark the launch of the improved BUILD UP website. On this occasion, Concerted Action EPBD III was invited to present some of its latest findings, including highlights from the latest Core Theme reports. The event acted as the public event to support the launch of the latest CA EPBD Book. Guests included Paula Rey Garcia, Buildings Team Leader of the European Commission’s DG for Energy, Eduardo Maldonado, CA EPBD III Coordinator, Susanne Geissler of the Austrian Sustainable Buildings Council, Wina Roelens of the Flemish Energy Agency, Heike Erhorn-Kluttig of the Fraunhofer Institute for Buildings Physics and Jens Laustsen, CA EPBD IV Coordinator. With a full room and very active discussions, the EPBD CA Stakeholders meeting “Implementation of the EPBD in Europe | Training and NZEB issues”, held in hotel Bloom in Brussels last Thursday 13 November 2014, is considered a major success. The event targeted representatives from the public sector, NGOs, the building industry, financing sector stakeholders, as well as the coordinators of Intelligent Energy Europe Projects, aiming to exchange views and identify directions for future work in the areas of training of experts and Nearly Zero-Energy Buildings. STAKEHOLDERS MEETING EU Sustainable Energy Week, Brussels, 28/6/2013 Under the auspices of the Irish EU Presidency – represented by Mr. Fergus O’Dowd, T.D., Minister of State, Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government of Ireland – the 2012 Book ‘Implementing the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive -  Featuring Country Reports’ was handed to Ms. Claudia Canevari, DG Energy, EC during the joint EC - Concerted Action EPBD stakeholders event on the 28th of June 2013. Panel discussions followed between several top experts in the field of the EPBD and the market. The first discussion triggered interest through visionary views on the progress in Building Energy Efficiency in the EU. The second focused on Driving the market transformation and dealt with Vision,Challenges, and Opportunities for  Delivering the Potential. It fosters exchange of information and experiences amongst representatives designated by all 27 Member States, plus Norway and Croatia. The Concerted Action EPBD is organizing its annual Stakeholders meeting in Brussels on June 28, the last day of the EU Sustainable Energy Week, where it will launch the Book of National Reports 2012 containing the national reports describing the EPBD implementation in all the MS at the beginning of 2013.
